The University of Iowa is seeking a
Laundry Equipment Operator
to operate industrial sized laundry equipment and linen transportation system, in addition to performing manual tasks related to the sorting, washing and drying of materials. The University of Iowa offers a generous benefits package which may be viewed at: https://hr.uiowa.edu/benefits.
Responsibilities
Responsible for operating computer programs used to run laundry equipment.
Reboot the system when errors occur or operate the system manually until it is enabled by maintenance.
Monitor industrial sized laundry equipment cycles for proper formulas and cycle time.
Employ emergency shut off procedures for laundry equipment to prevent damage.
Schedule batch loading and unloading cycles by tracking product types and coordinating washer/dryer loading and unloading schedules for proper operation and maximization of production.
Operate the rail linen transportation system to arrange for efficient and proper loading of linen into machines and bag system.
Manually load soiled linen into washers, unload clean, wet linen; unload clean, dry linen.
Sort soiled linen by product and customer. Unload soiled linen from laundry trucks by bag, accurately weigh and record weight, and load into carts for sorting.
Clean equipment, sweep/dust/wash and clean up work area.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Move objects more than 20 pounds.
Schedule Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions.
Any combination of experience, undergraduate education, or post‑high‑school training using computers or computer‑operated equipment that is equivalent to six months of full‑time employment.
Desirable Qualifications
Prefer previously commercialized laundry experience.
Prefer previous experience operating large laundry equipment.
Prefer basic computer knowledge.
Prefer ability to demonstrate civil and respectful behaviors while working with a variety of individuals and groups.
