Role Overview The Dietitian Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the Office of Family Nutrition Services Programs within the assigned region. The role is responsible for program planning, staff management, community partnerships, service delivery innovation, and fiscal oversight to ensure high‑quality, accessible, and compliant nutrition services.

Responsibilities

Direct staff and resources to ensure WIC services are delivered in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.

Interview, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance.

Provide coaching and motivation to individuals and teams to achieve performance objectives.

Develop staff capabilities, support professional growth, and ensure quality care delivery.

Assist with the planning, promotion, and implementation of program services and lead the rollout of new initiatives.

Assess service delivery gaps and identify opportunities to expand or enhance services using innovative methods.

Participate in community health assessments and planning efforts to support program development and public health goals.

Facilitate outreach to underserved and priority populations, using creative problem‑solving strategies to reduce barriers to access.

Analyze and evaluate program operations and make recommendations to improve quality, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.

Provide technical guidance and serve as a consultant in complex, multidisciplinary situations.

Manage the regional budget and provide fiscal oversight for contract services.

Ensure accurate reporting, monitoring, and compliance with funding and contract requirements.

Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with community agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

Develop agreements and contracts utilizing multiple service delivery methods.

Collaborate with Vendor Liaisons and the Central Office Vendor Manager on vendor activities.

Licenses and Certifications Must be a licensed Registered Dietitian in the state of South Dakota.

Ideal Candidate

Excellent interpersonal skills that facilitate effective working relationships at individual, group, and community levels.

Experience with supervision, partnership building, collaboration, grants management, and financial practices.

Experience with the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Knowledge Of

Public health nutrition, maternal and child health, and the WIC Program.

Federal, state, and local regulations governing WIC and public health programs.

Program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement methodologies.

Budget management, fiscal oversight, and contract administration.

Community health assessment processes and health equity principles.

Workforce development, performance management, and supervisory best practices.

Skills

Strong leadership and staff management, including coaching and performance evaluation.

Strategic planning and project management.

Effective verbal and written communication for diverse audiences.

Relationship‑building and collaboration with internal teams and community partners.

Analytical and problem‑solving skills to assess operations and implement improvements.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Proficiency with technology and data systems for service delivery and reporting.
