Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must successfully complete the Jeff Ellis and Associate lifeguard training course – no prior certification required.

Ability to work in outside weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet business needs.

Position Overview Lifeguards monitor the activities of guests while in or on water attractions to ensure that all appropriate park policies and safety regulations are followed. Apply lifeguard and first aid skills learned through certification courses, department orientation, and in-service training. Provide a safe and enjoyable experience for each guest throughout the day.

Job Duties

Maintain a polite and friendly demeanor while working and interacting with guests.

Adhere to and maintain the Ellis and Associates standard of care.

Prepare water rides and attractions prior to park opening.

Ensure all guests follow rules of the water park.

Manage emergency situations in the water park and assist First Aid staff when needed.

Know and respond to questions regarding the park operations.

Resolve customer complaints by using sound judgment or requesting assistance from a supervisor.

Assist with the cleaning of the water park each day at the end of operation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving: Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information efficiently; develop alternative solutions when needed.

Technical Skills: Be cognizant of surroundings and respond immediately to emergency situations by applying first aid knowledge obtained during training.

Communication: Greet each and every guest in a friendly and inviting manner; complete all supporting documentation clearly and concisely; read and interpret information quickly.

Planning / Organizing: Keep assigned work area clean and orderly; fill downtime with appropriate tasks; work efficiently.

Quality Control: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work; look for ways to improve and promote quality; monitor own work for quality assurance.

Dependability: Follow instructions and respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions; complete tasks on time or notify supervisor with an alternate plan; be consistently on time for scheduled shifts; ensure responsibilities are covered when absent.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk/pace, use hands to handle equipment, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to 100 pounds; and apply first aid techniques including CPR.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to water and outside weather conditions, and occasionally to confined spaces or elevated work areas depending on assigned location.

Occasionally = Less than 33% of time worked dedicated to the activity. Frequently = Between 33 - 66% of time worked dedicated to the activity. Regularly = More than 66% of the time worked dedicated to the activity.
