Overview Responsible for transporting several types of construction equipment and materials to and from jobsites and back to the shop and storage yard locations. The Heavy Haul Driver is also responsible for onsite heavy haul operations with Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 200,000+.

Responsibilities

Load and unload equipment and materials

Ensure secure loads

Maintain awareness of load limits (weights)

Vehicle and equipment maintenance

Haul counterweights for cranes

Haul miscellaneous construction equipment from 80,000 GVWR to 800,000 GVWR

Be able to safely operate 4-9 axle trailer configurations and hydraulic platform trailers

Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times

Communicate equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite

Complete daily inspection of truck

Obtain required permits with the help of the Transportation Specialist

Complete basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed

Advise Shop Manager if trucks need major repairs and maintenance

Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

One year certificate from college or technical school preferred

5 or more years of experience with transporting construction equipment and materials required; 10 years of experience preferred

Previous experience with 4-9 axle trailer configurations

Previous experience with 4 axle heavy haul truck

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License

Double/triple Driver's License endorsement preferred

Maintain a safe driving record
