Primary Purpose
Support the coordination and scheduling of special education transportation by maintaining accurate records and providing quick retrieval of routes and documentation; interact with special education students, school personnel and parents. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD Qualifications
Education/Certification/licensure
High school diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of general office procedures Effective communication and interpersonal skills Professional telephone and 2-way radio communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point Ability to navigate Transportation Software Ability to receive and give verbal and written instructions effectively Ability and knowledge of routing and scheduling buses for special education students Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for special education Knowledge of student discipline procedures Experience
Minimum of 2 years successful experience in special education transportation experience Major Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in placing students on special education bus Assist special education bus drivers and bus aides concerning any problems or concerns with students, parents, teachers, co-workers and patrons. Assist with providing information to special education drivers, bus aides, and relief drivers about loading, securing, and unloading wheelchair students on the buses. Perform usual office routines and practices associated with a productive office, including, but not limited to typing correspondence and reports, maintaining accurate records and copying. Answering phones and two-way radios, and mail distribution concerning the transporting of each special education students. Assist with notifying drivers, parents, and school personnel of any changes in a student's bus service, such as changes of address, pickup and/or drop-off locations, and pickup and/or drop-off time or any bus changes. Assist with maintaining departmental data collection, student records and preparing reports required by the state, district, or department. Assist with maintaining special education route folders with accurate descriptions of routes (i.e. order of pickup and drop-off, locations and times, including the arrival and departing time at each school served). Effectively communicate with parents, supervisors, bus drivers, office staff, dispatchers and school personnel to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of special education students. Assist with coordinating, assigning, and dispatching of the special education wheelchair students for extracurricular trips. Assist with preparing and maintaining all summer school routes for special education students. Exercise good telephone and radio etiquette; take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Perform the duties of a Personal Care Attendant when necessary. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal). Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned. Mental Demands
