Reports to: Director of Operations and Programs (DOP)
Job Status: This is a modified full-time position. Flexibility of hours is needed to meet program needs, but will generally work Monday-Thursday evening 3:00pm-11:00pm. This position is a part of the on-call rotation and fills in Friday shifts as needed.
*Hours must be flexible to accommodate House coverage, staff meetings, and required trainings. This position is required to work holidays.
Position Summary The House Operations Coordinator supports the day-to-day functioning of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern North Carolina (RMHC of ENC), ensuring smooth operations, exceptional guest services, and a compassionate, home-like space for families. This position plays a key role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and well‑being of guests while upholding the mission and values of RMHC of ENC.
Essential Functions
Execute established policies and procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Manages operations of the front desk, including answering phones, greeting visitors at the door, check‑ins, check‑outs, tours, and other guest needs that may arise.
Ensures all necessary background information is collected on all guests before check‑in.
Act as first point of contact and effectively problem solve any issues that may arise during scheduled shift. Inform House Operations Supervisor and/or DOP of any difficulties related to House guests.
Perform regular rounds to maintain relationships with families, monitor facility needs, and ensure guest safety and comfort.
Maintain cleanliness and order in common areas, ensuring supplies are well‑stocked and equipment is functional.
Conduct light housekeeping duties (e.g., removing trash, sanitizing surfaces, room turnovers, laundering linens as needed).
Coordinate biweekly maintenance tasks.
Provide on‑site support for all programs and activities in collaboration with the Volunteer and Family Programs Manager. Act as first point of contact for meal groups and ensure compliance with meal guidelines.
Monitor facility conditions and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns to the Facility Manager or Director of Operations and Programs.
Record financial transactions, including deposits, room fees, donations and merchandise sales.
Provide tours to visitors, families, and potential donors, and support in‑kind and financial contributions related to operation’s needs.
Collect photos, family stories, and information for use in outreach and advancement efforts, in collaboration with the RMHC of ENC advancement team.
Support Advancement efforts by ensuring tangible donations are documented by volunteers or by the coordinator as needed.
Family & Volunteer Support
Provide support and direction to volunteers assisting with guest services, meal provision, light housekeeping, and special projects.
Step in to fulfill volunteer responsibilities when coverage is unavailable.
Provide a welcoming and appreciative environment for volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and informed.
Assist in training new volunteers as needed in collaboration with the Volunteer and Family Programs Manager.
Administrative & Team Responsibilities
Accurately record guest communication, donations, incidents, and other shift‑related information in Family Registry or designated logs to ensure peers and supervisors are well‑informed and subsequent shifts receive timely, important updates.
Attend occasional team meetings or training sessions as requested by program leadership.
Uphold the mission and values of RMHC of ENC in all interactions with families, volunteers, hospital partners, and fellow staff.
Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
RMH is open 365 days a year, which includes rotating to cover shifts on holidays and during inclement weather.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

Strong computer skills. Database management, and ability to learn new programs
Ability to work independently without supervision
Ability to multitask, solve problems, and use sound judgement
Ability to adapt to changing situations calmly and effectively
Ability to work with a diverse population
Ability to move around a 25,000 square foot facility and move/lift up to 25 lbs.
