Job Description Coordinates daily scheduling of patient appointments for medical procedures in a timely and efficient manner. Interacts extensively with physicians, diagnostic staff, office staff, and patients via phone, fax, and email to ensure accurate and effective scheduling. Works collaboratively to support safe patient care and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
High degree of computer accuracy
Completion of a medical terminology course or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
One year of clinical scheduling experience in a clinical discipline or completion of an approved externship
For Radiology: experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary

Word processing accuracy

Effective oral and written communication
Excellent organizational skills
Self-direction and adherence to standard procedures
Outstanding customer service skills
Fluency in Spanish or another language
Job Responsibilities
Schedules patient appointments for medical procedures for the designated department, resolving discrepancies with doctors' offices.
Coordinates all aspects of procedure scheduling and follows guidelines for each scheduled procedure.
Collects and confirms patient demographic and insurance information and enters data accurately into the scheduling system.
Stays aware of insurance authorization needs and follows department policies on appointment confirmation.
May coordinate all aspects of protocol scheduling for specific modalities in accordance with hospital policy.
Confirms schedule with doctors' offices and resolves any conflicts.
Communicates instructions related to appointments to doctors' offices and parents.
Utilizes computerized scheduling system and electronic order management functions.
Assists in identifying ways to improve scheduling processes.
Completes quality assurance for all scheduled patients.
May precept new schedulers in standard procedures, quality control, and continuous improvement programs.
