Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) We are seeking an Inpatient Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care across the age continuum. This role includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and guidance to the surgical nursing unit.

Schedule

8 FTE – 32 hours per week

PM/NOC shift

Every 3rd weekend – 12‑hour night shift

2 holidays per year – 12‑hour night shift

Essential Functions

Complete thorough assessments and surgical‑specific assessments; use critical thinking to direct appropriate care and treatments.

Document assessments accurately as defined by unit policy.

Assess the need for patient and family instruction and provide necessary education.

Planning

Initiate, develop, and document patient care plans based on assessment and diagnosis/procedure.

Individualize plans and evaluate/adjust for realistic outcome dates.

Collaborate with other disciplines to determine care plans and create discharge plans.

Review and update plans at least every 24 hours.

Implementation

Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care per regulations, policy, and standards.

Prioritize care and communicate patient changes to staff and physicians promptly.

Maintain proficiency in medication administration, including IV therapy, minimizing medication errors.

Perform procedures accurately according to policy, procedure, and physician orders.

Provide care with minimal supervision in a timely manner.

Maintain a safe environment; use safety precautions appropriately.

Follow Universal Precautions, asepsis, and infection control procedures.

Comply with HIPAA privacy laws.

Professional Requirements

Model professional behavior in accordance with OLSH and Second Floor Codes of Conduct.

Support initiatives enhancing patient satisfaction.

Communicate effectively, professionally, accurately, and timely with all staff and patients.

Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and staffing for optimal performance.

Participate in process improvement, patient satisfaction, meetings, daily routines, and unit activities.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability

Eligible for employment in the U.S.

Graduate of a professional nursing school.

Current licensure in the State of Wisconsin.

BLS certification required upon hire.

Obtains ACLS and PALS certification within six months of hire.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communication and basic computer skills for documentation.

Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for professional advancement.

Prefer 2‑year minimum experience in a hospital medical/surgical setting.

Previous recovery room, ambulatory care, critical care, or general nursing experience preferred.

Knowledge of professional nursing standards and practice accordingly.
