Position Information The purpose of this classification and position is to assist the Team Leader in our Respite program. This program serves individuals living with dementia and provides respite for caregivers and families. Specialists will ensure program tasks are carried out correctly and efficiently, working under direct supervision of the Team Leader with limited discretion regarding team activities.
Essential Functions
Coordinate activities of assigned programs/services designed to assist senior center clients with various life aspects.
Coordinate homebound delivered meals program for seniors, locate referrals, obtain and record directions, explain program and local guidelines, complete referral and registration forms, and perform nutritional screening.
Procure prescriptions for diabetic clients and place them in client files; provide backup coverage for food preparation, meal delivery, client transportation, or other related tasks.
Perform light housekeeping for homemaking services, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning appliances, changing linens, and running errands for clients.
Provide Alzheimer’s patient assistance program, including memory stimulation activities, structured programs, and short expeditions to community sites.
Maintain current files, schedules, and logs for each client; conduct regular reassessments to ensure continued eligibility.
Prepare and complete various forms, reports, and correspondence, including client reports, waitlists, referral forms, nutritional screening instruments, mileage reports, and reimbursement reports.
Receive, review, process, and file documentation and correspondence from other departments, agencies, and the public.
Operate a computer for data entry, retrieval, review, and modification using standard word processing and other applications.
Communicate with supervisors, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders to coordinate work activities, review status, and resolve problems.
Maintain comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, stay informed of new trends, read professional literature, and attend workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
Additional Functions
Operate a passenger van or small bus to transport clients or other individuals as needed.
Perform general/clerical tasks such as answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, picking up or delivering mail, and conducting visitor tours of the senior center.
Assist with senior center activities and special projects as needed; serve as escort on trips as required.
Provide assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED with at least one (1) year of experience/training in senior program administration, office administration, or related areas, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid CPR and First Aid certification obtained within three (3) months of employment.
Valid Georgia driver’s license.
Federal fingerprint background check required for assignment to the Senior Services grant programs.
Part‑time Regular employees receive personal leave accrual at ½ the rate of full‑time employees: 0–4 years – 3.08 hrs per pay period, 5–14 years – 3.85 hrs per pay period, 15+ years – 4.62 hrs per pay period. No medical insurance is available to part‑time employees.
