GBE Final Inspection Material Handler – Level 1
Position Summary
Level One
: Level 1 Material Handler drives gasoline, electric or propane powered industrial truck or manipulator equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, jaws or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties in assigned department.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Obtain job assignments from lead, supervisor or manager.
Work safely in accordance to plant safety guidelines including cardinal rules of safety.
Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, and transports load to designated area.
Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
Required Skills
Basic knowledge of material handling equipment, to include prior forklift experience.
Must be able to obtain a company certified forklift certification within two weeks of onboarding.
Required to be crane certified and capable of moving materials as needed.
The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
The ability to read and interpret work instructions.
Shift to be Monday – Friday 5am to 3pm, with additional hours scheduled as needed.
Position will mainly support GBE Final Inspection, however may be asked to support other areas as needed.
Experience & Education
0 to 1 year of manufacturing experience; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree required
GED or High School diploma
Minimum 6 months prior experience operating powered industrial equipment
Working Conditions
Constant exposure to indoor / outdoor manufacturing environment
Constant exposure to moderate noise
Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
Must be able to work any shift including overtime, weekends and holidays if scheduled.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing and pulling of materials.
Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane.
Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
