Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Acute Care
Base Pay Range $40.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced
Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
to join our acute care team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise managing
medically complex and high‑acuity patients
in a hospital setting. This role requires clinical independence, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing disorders in an
acute care hospital environment
Perform bedside and instrumental swallowing evaluations as clinically indicated
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for medically complex patients
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case management, and rehabilitation staff
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans and safety strategies
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning
Ensure compliance with NYSED, hospital policies, and evidence‑based practice standards
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in an acute care hospital setting
Demonstrated experience managing
high‑acuity and medically complex cases
Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) license
as a Speech‑Language Pathologist (required)
Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced hospital environment
Schedule Requirements
4 weekdays and 1 weekend day
Hours:
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Interview Process
First Interview:
10–15 minute phone screening
Second Interview:
In‑person interview
