Description Safe Harbor The Hydro Technician reporting to the Supervisor, Operations directs and engages in the inspection, repair, testing, and cleaning of Mechanical and Electrical equipment in and associated with the generating plant/ facilities. The job entails the use of electrical test equipment and the Computerized Maintenance Management System, operating overhead and gantry cranes, aerial lift, diesel generators, tow motors, hoists, conduit benders, pipe threading machines, ladders, rope or chain block and tackle, finishing machines, drill presses, hand, pneumatic, and electrically operated tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hydro Technician works independently, with the assistance of other employees, or may be assigned to assist employees in other classifications. When placed in charge of jobs, the Hydro Maintenance Technician coordinates and directs work activities, monitors the work of the crew, communicates the job status with appropriate parties, and follows the job through to completion.

Works from oral or written instructions and can read Electrical and Mechanical prints.

Recommends equipment repairs or replacements, requests quotes as needed.

Will become qualified as an Employee in Charge, EIC, in the Lock Out Tag Out, LOTO, system for Mechanical and Electrical equipment; such as, service transformers, control batteries, elevators, motors, pumps, compressors, gantry cranes, and lighting circuits, etc., for inspection, repair, and testing.

Follows established work procedures and methods for repairing malfunctioning Electrical and Mechanical equipment.

Performs inspections and repairs to equipment and instrumentation with multiple voltages, including AC and DC systems ranging from 12V to 460V systems.

Assists employees in higher classifications in the inspection, repair, testing, and cleaning of major equipment in and associated with the generating plant.

Prepare and complete accurate reports and completes records of work performed on Electrical and Mechanical equipment and is expected to report to his or her supervisor deficiencies in the inspections being performed.

Capable of using various PLC control system interfaces; such as, the main unit OIT stations, gate heater controls, fish lift and low-pressure air compressor controls, and similar equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary to maintain proper performance and appearance of equipment in and associated with the generating plant.

Performs job plans for inspection, testing and correcting of equipment, and reports deficiencies in the work plan.

Proficient in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics is preferred, or equivalent military experience

Strong electrical or electronic background and process system Operations and Maintenance training or like experience

Maintain a current PA driver’s license for operating company vehicles

Required to pass all performance tests as indicated by Skills Matrix

Must understand the LOTO System and related operating instructions, safety rules, station orders, and plant layout of auxiliary equipment and demonstrate the ability to be the EIC on auxiliary equipment for inspection, testing, and repair.

Required to understand operating manuals and electrical drawings and make necessary revisions

Be alert, dependable, motivated and interested in becoming a Sr. Hydro Maintenance Technician

Pay: $75k-80k/yr.
