Electrical Field Service Technician – Utah / Salt Lake City

Electrical Field Service Technician
to support gas engine installations throughout Utah and the Salt Lake City area. If you enjoy troubleshooting, working independently, and solving real‑world technical challenges, this could be a great fit. What You’ll Do
Perform electrical and light mechanical service on gas engines—commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repair work.
Follow established maintenance protocols including inspections, measurements, filter changes, component replacements, and system checks.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control‑system issues using an analytical, data‑driven approach.
Coordinate with subcontractors and third‑party service providers when required.
Work effectively on your own or with other technicians depending on the job.
Keep customers informed on service plans, progress, and recommended follow‑up work.
Maintain responsibility for your assigned sites with a focus on uptime and reliability.
Complete detailed service reports outlining findings, work performed, materials used, and next steps.
Manage basic hand tools, spare parts, and service vehicle condition.
Submit timesheets, expenses, and safety documentation on time.
Follow all safety procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
What You Need
Previous field service experience—automotive, power generation, diesel, heavy equipment, or similar.
Strong electrical skills: wiring, panels, alternators, and interpreting electrical diagrams.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and wiring schematics.
PLC knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight spaces as needed.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability requirements.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Ability to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
Comfortable working remotely and independently.
Preferred Experience
Background with natural‑gas or reciprocating engines.
Experience in power‑generation applications.
Strong communication skills—able to explain technical details clearly and write accurate service reports.
Solid customer‑service mindset and ability to work with operators, managers, and field crews.
Proficient with computers and logic‑control software.
