What You Can Expect As a Solar Technician I, you will support the operation and maintenance of solar power facilities at the Anson 2 Solar Site. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain photovoltaic inverters, solar panel systems and related equipment. Your work will involve using digital tools such as SCADA, Maximo, and SAP to manage work orders, document activities, and ensure accurate reporting. You will also be part of an on‑call rotation for outages and emergencies.

Daily Responsibilities

Complete permits to work, job safety plans (JSPs), lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) procedures, and perform last‑minute risk assessments

Under the supervision of senior‑level technicians, perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on photovoltaic inverters, solar panels, tracking systems, and other related solar plant equipment

Operate standard hand tools and electrical testing equipment (screwdrivers, wrenches, battery‑powered drills/impacts, multimeters, amp clamps)

Understand and execute ENGIE's official job‑specific documentation, such as LOTO procedures, work instructions, and routine maintenance checklists

Create and close‑out work orders generated in the Maximo system

Conduct site safety orientations for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) representatives, independent service provider (ISP) vendors, and site visitors

Accompany approved site visitors to ensure all individuals adhere to Engie's safety and quality standards

Perform LOTO and general supervision for non‑ENGIE employees as needed

Maintain accurate parts and tooling inventory

What You'll Bring

Minimum two (2) diplomas in a technical program with AC/DC electrical theory, reading blueprints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment (breakers, disconnects, transformers, contactors or equivalent)

General knowledge of AC/DC voltage, electrical theory, reading one‑line and three‑line schematics, and operation & maintenance of electrical equipment (AC/DC breakers, disconnects, MV transformers, NO/NC contactors, relays)

Understanding of selecting the proper PPE for electrical work

Proficiency in reading and understanding switching orders

Obtain appropriate level of substation training and/or certifications within 12 months of hire date

Available for on‑call duties as required

A willingness to work night shifts and extended hours, often outdoors in extreme heat or cold

Readiness to walk, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Additional Details

This is a field position requiring daily attendance at a worksite

Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant

Willing to travel domestically to support site operations at ENGIE's various renewable modalities as needed (solar, wind, BESS)

Must complete ENGIE's Qualified Electrical Worker Competency Skills test, demonstrating safety‑critical tasks with AC/DC electricity (within 12 months of hire)

Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Position consists of 30% indoor and 70% outdoor work; outdoor exposure to extreme weather conditions

Compensation Hourly Range:

$25.00 – $34.00 USD per hour. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, and internal pay alignment.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency/on‑call pay.
