Eligibility
This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for all elements of the nursing process in direct patient care, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care. The RN focuses on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, administers medications, and follows established policies. Demonstrates leadership and shares knowledge to support professional development and improve care outcomes at the program or service level.
The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) on 5 Main, a med/surg telemetry unit, is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on age-specific components. The RN assumes responsibility for the coordination of care, focusing on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. They administer medications and procedures according to established policies and guidelines. The RN influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to managing complex patient care.
They collaborate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines, and provide peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Additionally, the RN supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to ensure safe, quality nursing care, and fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. The RN evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations, and is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level, which must be broad and complex and demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.
