Elementary Teaching Position

Kuumba Academy Charter School (KACS) is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Elementary Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a relentless commitment to student success using innovative arts‑integrated methods to help all students achieve at high levels.
Responsibilities
Create a positive, achievement‑oriented, and structured learning environment.
Motivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standards.
Invest students and families in the development of academic success and Kuumba Core values.
Utilize data to drive instruction and intervention.
Design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade/subject teams.
Hold all students accountable during transitions, trips, and school events.
Plan and lead daily student CREW activities to help students forge positive, productive relationships with themselves, peers, and adults, aligning with the school‑wide CREW curriculum and Habits of Scholarship.
Provide differentiated instruction to all students to ensure at least a 1.5‑year growth as measured by NWEA’s MAPs assessments, closing the achievement gap for all students.
Be evaluated using DTGSS.
Professional Growth and Development
Collaborate with instructional coaches, grade‑level chairs, and the school team to continuously improve instructional practices, culture building, and leadership skills.
Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetings.
Function as a school‑wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character, reinforcing school‑wide expectations and volunteering for additional activities as needed to improve school culture.
Skills and Characteristics
Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
High level of personal organization and planning.
Team player: maturity, humility, grit, flexibility, follow‑through, sense of humor, openness to feedback, and a “roll‑up‑my‑sleeves” attitude.
Strong belief in the Kuumba mission and educational model.
Mastery of and enthusiasm for subject matter.
Educational Background and Requirements
Two years of teaching experience highly preferred, with a proven record of high achievement.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Certification within the State of Delaware in elementary education.
