Nurse Practitioner – Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co. (HOPCo) Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi‑location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise. We offer a team approach to your care and provide a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on‑site X‑ray, on‑site MRI, on‑site physical therapy, and aquatic therapy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Assess patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Provide acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, and suturing wounds.

Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems.

Respond to emergencies, including the use of CPR.

Document patient information and care provided in patient records and maintain patient statistics.

Educate patients and families as appropriate.

Collaborate with physicians in managing the medical needs of patients.

Participate in rounds at the hospital and respond to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.

Consult with other staff as necessary.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

Education

ADN/BSN

Knowledge

Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan.

Knowledge of how to assess a patient with chronic medical conditions and understanding of pathophysiology regarding disease process.

Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that can be used to educate patients, encouraging them to participate in their care.

Skills

Insertion of intravenous catheters.

Skill in analyzing, interpreting a medical record, and gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic and emotional patient data.

Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms and objective assessment.

Abilities

Ability to make responsible decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice & clinic protocols.

Ability to offer education materials about procedures performed.

Ensure patient safety at all times.

Ability to have open communication with providers.

Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
