Outlet Associate – Part‑time Location: 927 N Emerson Ave., Greenwood, IN 46143 Hourly Rate: $14.00 per hour

The Outlet Associate assists outlet leadership in achieving operational goals by performing a variety of duties such as cashiering, sorting items, quality control, moving large pieces, recycling, housekeeping, and customer service. All positions have daily production quotas.

Responsibilities

Ring up customer orders, maintain a balanced drawer, and follow all cash handling procedures.

Provide general information about Goodwill programs, educate customers, and direct higher‑level questions to leadership.

Maintain cleanliness inside and outside the facility.

Safely move properly priced and tagged furniture to the sales floor and arrange it orderly.

Assist with customer furniture carry‑out requests.

Cross‑train in various outlet functions as needed.

Meet daily production/quality quotas and update production sheets.

Sort through belts to remove personal and confidential materials and remove hazardous items.

Report findings of money, credit cards, weapons, or other questionable objects to leadership.

Accept donations, maintain a clean donation door, and educate customers on promotions, including the rewards program.

Quickly and accurately sort products, prioritizing maximum value to minimize trash.

Maintain an efficient backroom—label boxes, keep items organized, sweep clear of spills.

Load and unload trucks as needed; operate pallet jack, double stacker, baler, floor scrubber, and hydraulic lift.

Inspect salvaged and recycling material and use inspection equipment to comply with specifications and regulations.

Required Competencies

Degree and Credential Requirements: NONE. Candidates must demonstrate capability and articulate how prior experience will contribute.

Knowledge of Warehouse Processes: familiarity with receiving, putaway, storage, picking, packing, and shipping; experience with pallet jack, double stacker, baler, and/or tipper.

Communication Skills: articulate thoughts effectively in oral, written, visual, and non‑verbal forms; listen to customer needs.

Customer Focus: relate to customers impartially and build satisfaction with products and services.

Mathematical Aptitude: perform basic arithmetic with money, weight, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: apply common sense to written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems with concrete variables.

Teamwork: work well with others and contribute value to team or project outcomes.

Ethical: follow procedures, maintain confidentiality, and uphold Goodwill’s values.

Attention to Detail: pursue quality and safety awareness in tasks.

Time Management: manage one's own time and the time of others effectively.

Preferred Competencies

Technical Knowledge: familiarity with computers and basic software and Internet navigation skills.

Other Requirements

Hard to Very Hard Physical Work – able to spend >8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; use hands to grasp, carry, feel, or touch items; lift up to 50 pounds; tolerate moderate noise and temperature variations.

Visual Acuity – close, distance, peripheral, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
