All entry level candidates will be placed in one of the following trades based on business needs at time of hire:
Shipfitter
Responsible for laying out, fabricating and installing metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, frames, foundations, etc. Align and tracks welds structural parts
Painter and Sound Dampener
Preserves the hull and components by sealing the submarines with chemicals and paints to prevent corrosion and protect against the accumulation of marine life
Laying out & shooting studs, gluing & installing tiles & anti‑sweat hardboard
Welder
Responsible for fusing materials together with a wide range of welding processes
Outside Machinist
Works on the submarine doing assembly and shipboard mechanical work that takes place in the shipyard.
Pipefitter
Installs, assembles, fabricates, maintains, and repairs mechanical piping systems that carry liquids and gases under varying pressures
Outside Electrician
Responsible for the electrical wiring of the machines and related equipment supporting many miles of cable in the submarines
Sheetmetal
Responsible for laying out, fabrication, assembly, and installation of all light gage metalwork which includes air‑conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors and furniture
These are hourly positions located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI
Qualifications Required
High school senior and graduating by August of 2026
US Citizen
Available to train and work on any shift
Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and in extreme weather conditions as required
Possess your own basic hand tools
Preferred
Vocational HS
Skills
Ability to work successfully in a production/construction environment
Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment
Ability to communicate effectively with supervision and peers
Physical Qualifications Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting
