Position Overview The Spanish teacher will provide engaging, culturally responsive instruction that builds students’ language proficiency, communication skills, and global awareness. The ideal candidate fosters an inclusive classroom environment, promotes student engagement, and collaborates effectively with colleagues and families.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver standards-aligned Spanish instruction for students in grades 6–8
Develop engaging, interactive lessons that support listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish
Integrate cultural awareness and real-world connections into instruction
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
Collaborate with grade-level teams, administrators, and support staff
Communicate effectively with students and families
Support schoolwide initiatives and uphold district policies and expectations
Qualifications
Committed to inspiring and engaging students
Committed to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students
Positive team‑player and effective communicator with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
Open to coaching and feedback to advance learning and growth for students
Experience in high‑need or Title‑I school settings; experience with English Language Learners is a plus
High personal standards and integrity
Valid Tennessee teaching certification with World Language endorsement or upcoming graduate in accredited teacher preparation program; if holding license in another state, must apply for Tennessee license
Bachelor’s degree required
Compensation Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard‑to‑staff positions.
