A manufacturing organization in the food and nutrition space is seeking a hands‑on Controls Engineer to serve as the primary onsite owner of plant automation systems. This is a fully onsite, individual contributor role for someone who values technical ownership while working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership as part of a strong plant‑based team.

Core Technologies and Platforms
The plant operates primarily on Rockwell Automation systems, including Allen‑Bradley PLCs such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and legacy platforms; Studio 5000 and RSLogix programming environments; FactoryTalk View ME and SE for HMI development; FactoryTalk Linx and RSLinx communications; Ethernet/IP networks; and drives, instrumentation, remote I/O, and plant data systems.
Key Responsibilities
Independently support, troubleshoot, and maintain Rockwell and Allen‑Bradley PLC and HMI systems.
Diagnose automation issues across PLC code, I/O, drives, instrumentation, and networks.
Modify and optimize control logic to support safe and reliable production.
Develop and maintain clear, operator‑focused FactoryTalk HMI screens and alarms.
Perform preventative, routine, and emergency controls maintenance.
Own controls cabinets, documentation, backups, and lifecycle planning.
Support controls scope for equipment upgrades and plant improvement projects.
Coordinate with vendors as needed while maintaining hands‑on ownership.
Work closely with operations, maintenance, and IT teams to support plant performance.
Participate in on‑call support for critical control system issues.
Promote a safety‑first, reliability‑driven plant culture.
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of hands‑on controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Automation platforms.
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating closely with plant teams.
Strong troubleshooting skills from sensor to PLC to HMI.
Experience in food, beverage, or other process manufacturing environments preferred.
Comfortable working in a fully onsite, production‑focused environment.
Ownership mindset with strong communication skills.
