Work Shift:

First (Days) – 6:30 am to 3 pm Monday‑Friday, with weekend call 1 day per 6 weeks and rotating holiday call from 7 am to 7 pm.

Overview Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a full‑time, first‑shift Senior Central Sterile Service Technician.

Duties & Responsibilities

Staff assignments, validation checks, OR coordination and turnover.

Staff supervision and support, assisting vendors with required tray needs.

Decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments, medical equipment, and supplies.

Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to established procedures and standards.

Examine medical equipment for defects and report faulty equipment.

Ensure compliance with all local and federal health and safety regulations.

Serve as a preceptor and educator for new team members; provide hands‑on training and orientation.

Manage work allocations for peers within the department.

Education & Experience

High school graduate or equivalent required.

2 years of related experience required.

Ability to transition between tasks efficiently.

Teamwork and communication skills.

EVS, acute hospital experience or hospital inventory experience preferred.

Previous supervisor or leadership experience preferred.

Certification & Licensure

BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
