Position Overview
The Creative Services Student Assistant works with the Director of Creative Services on all aspects of the museum’s visual output. This position serves as the lead for museum event photography and exhibition documentation, and image processing and archiving. The Creative Services Student Assistant also contributes to video production projects and museum object photography, as well as providing direction on image selection for museum publications. Job Responsibilities
30% – Execute image post‑processing workflow including image processing, metadata application, and archiving. 25% – Assist with museum video projects including filming and post‑production. 25% – Photograph museum events. 15% – Photograph art objects in the collection. 5% – Assistance with other museum projects and events as assigned. Required Qualifications
Experience with Mac and PC computers as shown in application materials. Working knowledge of DSLR cameras as shown in application materials. Experience producing videos, including pre‑production, filming, and post‑production as shown in application materials. Extensive experience with image editing in Adobe Photoshop and Bridge, or comparable programs as shown in application materials. Event photography experience as shown in application materials. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of digital imaging workflow, including camera operation, studio lighting, composition, image capture, file preparation, archiving as shown in application materials. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere or comparable video editing software as shown in application materials. Experience working in a museum setting as shown in application materials. Qualified and accepted for Federal Work Study for 2025‑2026 academic year as shown in application materials. Object photography experience as shown in application materials. Web publication experience, especially within the Drupal content management system as shown in application materials. Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Employment Conditions
Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. This is an hourly/non‑exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non‑exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently. Additional Candidate Instructions
