Starting Salary Range: $75,000.00+ (based on applicable experience)

The Field Service Technician provides comprehensive machine service, repair, and technical support for all Kurz machinery, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The technician is responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, conducting installations, providing training, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role requires travel, both domestically and potentially internationally for training, to customer sites and remote warehouse locations.

Conduct on-site service, repairs, and installations of all Kurz equipment, maintaining adherence to technical specifications and customer requirements.

Provide immediate response to machine problems, customer complaints, and emergency situations, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.

Perform rebuilds and refurbishments of applicable Kurz equipment to extend its operational lifespan and maintain standard performance.

Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic malfunctions, employing advanced diagnostic techniques to ensure minimal disruption to production.

Deliver comprehensive operator training on Kurz equipment operation and maintenance.

Assist customers and internal customer service personnel with spare part identification, ordering, and shipment, ensuring timely availability of necessary components.

Assist customers with process improvement initiatives to optimize machine performance and productivity.

Provide service and support for in-house finishing equipment located at Kurz remote warehouses, ensuring operational efficiency.

Maintain a safe work environment in the office, manufacturing facilities, during travel, and at customer locations, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

Travel requirement: 40-60% estimated.

Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities

Independent work attitude:

able to work on his or her own while maintaining a team-based work ethic approach.

Communication:

Collaborate effectively with Operator, technician, engineer to address requested request. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to understand client needs, address concerns, and communicate clearly at all levels.

Physical abilities:

Meet the physical demands of the role, climbing stairs, stand/sit for an extended amount of time including static pull/push strength of 50 lbs., lift 25-50 lbs.

Technical Expertise:

Knowledge of machining equipment, including;

Electrical schematics, Wiring Diagrams & Pneumatic drawings

Automation Controls (PLC, Servo drives, Frequency controllers)

Control circuits ( sensors, E stop circuits, Relays, contactors & safety controllers)

Quality control:

Possess a keen eye for detail to conduct thorough quality inspections, and identifying defective section.

Work Style:

Independent worker, combining intelligence, experience, and self-confidence to excel with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Technical or Associates Degree or higher, or equivalent industry experience

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a field service technician role or a similar technical support position, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Experience servicing Converting machines and/or Web type machines

Familiarity with automation controls (PLCs, servo drives, frequency controllers) and control circuits.

Experience in providing customer training and technical support.

Computer literacy, including MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

SAP experience a plus
