About the Role The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within the Health Care and Social Assistance industry. This position involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well‑being. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with medical procedures while maintaining accurate and detailed patient records. This role requires strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide compassionate support to patients and their families. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to the overall success of the healthcare facility by promoting positive patient outcomes and adhering to established clinical protocols and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Missouri.
Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a community health or outpatient care setting.
Additional certifications such as IV therapy or wound care.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and progress, reporting any changes to the supervising nurse or physician.
Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities to ensure comfort and dignity.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post‑treatment care.
Ensure a safe and clean environment by following infection control protocols and safety procedures.
Skills The LPN utilizes clinical nursing skills daily to assess patient conditions, administer medications, and provide essential care that supports recovery and health maintenance. Effective communication skills are critical for coordinating with healthcare professionals and educating patients and families about treatment plans and health management. Attention to detail ensures accurate documentation and adherence to safety and infection control standards, which are vital for patient safety and regulatory compliance. Organizational skills help manage multiple patient needs efficiently in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
