About the Role We are seeking a
Patient Access Specialist
to join our Clinical Center for Targeted Therapy team.
Shift:
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Salary range:
$45,500 – $68,500 per year (minimum $21.88, midpoint $27.40, maximum $32.93 per hour)

Key Responsibilities
Communicate with referral sources and schedule new patients while applying medical acceptance criteria to ensure optimal clinic efficiency.
Provide financial counseling options, including cost estimates, payment plans, discounts, and supplemental financial assistance; utilize medical overrides and account reviews as required.
Collect complete and accurate financial data during intake to ensure appropriate financial screening and verify data during registration to maintain compliance with required forms and consents.
Obtain insurance information, verify benefits, and secure authorizations using technical expertise.
Communicate effectively with patients, referral sources, MDACC physicians, and clinical staff regarding obstacles to access or financial clearance.
Document all communications with payors, patients, and the treatment team accurately and completely.
Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Associate’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Three years in healthcare, insurance, or a related field (required). With a preferred degree, one year is required. Five years of business experience in healthcare, insurance, or a multi‑specialty physician practice preferred.
Certification:
None required. Preferred: CHAA – Certified Healthcare Access Associate, CHAM – Certified Healthcare Access Manager.
Other Requirements:
Must pass a pre‑employment skills test administered by Human Resources.
