Job Summary Independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.

Position Highlights

Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Full Time, 40 hours/week)

Department: Hematology and Oncology

Location: 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston Salem, NC

Education & Experience

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.

Two years of acute care experience required.

Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years.

Licensure, Certification & Registration

Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.

Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) preferred within one year in select areas.

Essential Functions

Provides patient/family centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assisting patients and families to optimally manage their health care.

Applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially when patients present with complex or life‑threatening conditions.

Facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services.

Applies the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to professional obligations, and pursues lifelong learning and professional development.

Focuses on patient safety and quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, patient education, advocacy and coordination of care.

Provides leadership in the clinical setting and operational accountability for nursing services, including skill‑mix and delegation.

Core Skills & Qualifications

Clear communication with patients, families, healthcare team, physicians, administrators and leadership.

Assessment of nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.

Independent use of resources and collaborative teamwork.

Teaching patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care.

Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software programs.

Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $34.90 – $52.35 per hour. Sign‑on bonus up to $8,000 and referral bonus up to $5,000.
