Senior Academic Advisor

Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences Student Affairs Advising. Foster student success by proactively advising students in STEM fields in the division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS) on university policy and procedures, program and degree requirements, academic matters and related resources. Mentor new advisors, collaborate with college leaders to develop training and workshops for STEM advisors, and support special projects to advance student success. Responsibilities

Advises students in one or more STEM fields in NMS on university policy, procedures, program and degree requirements and academic matters. Consistently directs students to appropriate resources and identifies new resources and collaborations for resolving student cases. Collaborates with college leaders to develop training and workshops for STEM advisors and coordinates activities with the college central advising office. Provides mentorship for new advisors and leads the college advising community. Works with STEM course instructors to identify student needs and available resources to address those needs. Qualifications

Required

Master’s degree and two years of relevant experience. Deep understanding of STEM academic programs, specialty areas, and academic and university policies. Demonstrates adaptive relational skills, superior communication skills, policy and program change recommendation ability, FERPA guideline compliance, and sophisticated cultural competence. Predicts ramifications of current and proposed policies on the student population. Desired

Four years of relevant experience and historical knowledge of the academic advising profession. Salary and Location

Pay range: $60,000 – $65,000. Location: University Hall (0339). Position type: Regular full‑time. Scheduled hours: 40 per week. Shift: First Shift. Background Check
