Richmond, VA
. This is an onsite role supporting analytical method development and validation for
Dietary Supplements and Over-the-Counter (OTC) products
in a regulated environment.
Note:
Candidates must be local to the Richmond, VA area. Relocation and travel are not supported.
About the Role The Senior Scientist will be responsible for assessing, developing, validating, and troubleshooting analytical methods to ensure accurate, compliant data supporting product quality and regulatory expectations. This role plays a key part in method lifecycle management and serves as a technical subject matter expert within the analytical network.
The ideal candidate brings
deep hands‑on experience with HPLC/UPLC
and exposure to
mass spectrometry
, along with the ability to lead complex analytical work independently while collaborating across a matrixed organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute
analytical method development, validation, and troubleshooting
activities
Provide technical expertise in
HPLC, UPLC, GC, LC-MS
, and related detection technologies
Plan, execute, and interpret analytical experiments to meet project timelines and quality standards
Serve as a
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
supporting analytical methods, instrumentation, and investigations
Support and lead
OOS, OOT, deviations, root cause analysis, and CAPA
activities
Ensure strict adherence to
cGMP, data integrity, and good documentation practices
Own and maintain analytical instrumentation, including installation, qualification, calibration, and incident review
Act as an
instrument owner
and provide approval for instrument‑related events
Lead or contribute to
continuous improvement initiatives
, fostering a culture of quality, safety, and performance
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers in a matrixed environment
Qualifications & Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Life Sciences
10+ years of hands‑on experience
in analytical chemistry, method development, and laboratory instrumentation
Strong expertise in
HPLC and UPLC
(required)
Working knowledge of
GC and Mass Spectrometry
(LC‑MS experience a strong plus)
Proven ability to work independently as a project lead in a highly technical role
Strong documentation, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Preferred:
PhD in Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant experience
OR MS degree with 7+ years of experience
OR BS degree with 10+ years of experience
Experience supporting
OTC products, dietary supplements, or consumer healthcare products
Work Environment
Onsite laboratory role (Richmond, VA)
Regulated
cGMP environment
