The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for projects by analyzing plans and specifications, completing site visits, and communicating with internal & external shareholders. This role supports project profitability by ensuring bids are communicated clearly, thorough, and timely.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, and other bid documents to determine project requirements
Perform detailed quantity take-offs and identify subcontracted work and vendor items
Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, access, preparation needs, and scope risks
Prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages for commercial and/or residential projects
Coordinate with project managers, operations, and vendors to verify scope and pricing
Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving alternatives when requested
Track and manage bid deadlines and ensure timely submission
Use existing folder structure to organized records
Participate in job handoff meetings and provide estimating support during project execution
Review change orders and assist with pricing additional work, as needed
Providing guidance, training, and support to Jr Estimators to ensure work meets quality and company standards
Be knowledge in, and enforce, project safety requirements and OSHA construction standards
Position Requirements
Strong knowledge of painting systems & techniques, surface prep methods, coatings, and equipment
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and take‑off tools
Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, bilingual a plus
Problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations
Wear appropriate work attire, and PPE, per company policy
Able to identify, investigate and communicate problems and be able to provide alternatives and consequences
Qualifications
Must have valid driver’s license
3+ years of experience as a painting estimator or in construction estimating
Experience with commercial, industrial, or residential painting projects
Familiarity with production rates, labor forecasting, and job costing
Knowledge of safety standards and construction best practices
Knowledge of painting techniques and methods
Bilingual, is a plus but not required
