The Licensed Practical Nurse serves in Primary Care and responsible for routine nail care for low to moderate risk patients, but must be able to recognize high-risk patients that require podiatry consultation. High-risk patients would include but are not limited to those patients with diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or determined to be at increased risk for development of foot ulcerations.

Duties The Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of Primary Care Nursing team at the Charlotte HCC works under the direction of the Nurse Manager with minimal supervision and is accountable to the Clinic Nurse Manager. He/she demonstrates self-direction, independence, and critical thinking skills in carrying out simple to the most complex practical nursing care assignments for variable patient populations. He/she provides safe, timely and individualized nursing care to patients in the Ambulatory Care setting. The LPN functions independently in the clinic setting, manages a nursing nail trimming clinic and is responsible for patient flow under the more general supervision of the Nurse Manager.
