Fusion Medical Staffing – Cath Lab is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Tech) for a 13‑week travel assignment in Fargo, North Dakota. Job Details The IR Tech assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. Your role will include preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
Required Qualifications
Minimum one year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
Valid ARRT, or RCIS/RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist works closely with the interventional radiologist and healthcare team to support complex vascular and non‑vascular procedures. Responsibilities include patient and equipment preparation, operating imaging equipment, maintaining sterile fields, monitoring vital signs, managing contrast media, ensuring radiation safety, and providing patient education.
Essential Work Functions
Prepare and position patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
Operate imaging equipment including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound to guide procedures
Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
Manage and restock procedural supplies such as catheters, guidewires, and contrast agents
Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members for seamless patient care
Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions; PC skills required
Physical abilities: able to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel; maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures and equipment
Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public and customers, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain concentration during irregular activity schedules
Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication abilities
