Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Senior Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Senior Test Technician performs a variety of routine and non‑routine testing assignments within the department assigned and ensures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The technician must be proficient in core business skills including compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Salary: $26–$38/hr DOE.
Responsibilities
Mechanical testing of polymer and metallic materials
Interpretation of internal and client requirements
Operating complex mechanical testing equipment
Maintaining accurate and systematic records
Performing other duties to fulfill laboratory demands
Performing general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, Quality and Health and Safety systems
Application of instrumentation and setting up complex data capture equipment
Report writing, data interpretation and analysis
Skills / Qualifications
Good general education including English and Math
Associate Degree level or equivalent in mechanical or materials science or another relevant discipline
Hands‑on job experience
Experience working within a mechanical testing environment is advantageous
Understanding of a recognized Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 is beneficial
Working knowledge of ASTM, ISO, or equivalent mechanical testing standards
Self‑motivated Test Technician able to multi‑task, organize and work under pressure in a busy commercial mechanical test laboratory
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team‑player attitude
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform lower to intermediate complex testing
Can work alone for the majority of the day; requires assistance only for clarification or confirmation of test procedures
Effectively manages time and practices accountability for testing
Can take testing projects from start to finish, completing each step properly
Can hold team members and peer technicians accountable for testing requirements
Advanced ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform testing accordingly
Ability to construct and maintain test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order based on client needs
Ability to maintain and repair equipment
Ensures timely and accurate results with little supervision and technical input
