Job Summary The Store Associate supports daily operations, including food service, by adhering to all procedures and programs outlined in the Operations Division, learning and training on current and future programs, and ensuring that all employees uphold GATE standards.
Requirements
Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products.
Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Must be detail‑oriented and have strong organizational skills.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).
Must be able to work in varying and extreme temperatures.
Job Knowledge
Must possess basic reading, writing and math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Must be able to operate a personal computer.
Must understand and comply with company policies and procedures relating to robberies, and the safe and proper handling of petroleum products.
Duties and Functions
Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, in accordance with GATE attendance policy.
Arrive to work on time, consistently.
Arrive in proper attire, clean, and in good repair following GATE uniform standards.
Maintain acceptable grooming and hair style as approved by management.
Attend all required training, safety courses, office, and departmental meetings.
Report safety hazards and assist in correcting them to maintain a safe work environment.
Adhere to federal, state, local, and company regulations.
Use organizational skills to keep the store clean and well‑stocked.
Perform minor repair and maintenance of store equipment.
Operate all equipment in accordance with assigned duties.
Handle all payments following GATE policies.
Ensure customers are the first priority and deliver a positive, efficient checkout experience.
Greet customers and assist with product or service inquiries.
Address inquiries and resolve complaints with a positive attitude.
Contribute to a supportive team environment.
Communicate accurately and positively to customers and staff.
Implement problem‑solving and de‑escalation skills.
Operate cash register, money order machine, electronic lottery, Tach II safes, credit card machines, gasoline console, and emergency gasoline shutoff valve.
Perform store merchandising: stocking shelves, pricing, blocking and fronting shelves, placing window banners, in‑store POS, and ensuring all products are in code.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
All duties described are subject to change. Management reserves the right to alter the above requirements at any time.
Location and Compensation Sumter, SC – $40,000–$44,000 annually.
