Renewable Energy Technician II [on‑site] EDF Power Solutions North America

Location: Windthorst, Texas.

Salary Range: $22.00 – $37.00 per hour (Estimated starting pay $24.00–$32.00 per hour).

Scope of Position Under specific direction from the site manager and supervision of an experienced technician, this position will assist experienced technicians with conducting maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power and energy storage systems. Learns and applies EDF Core values: safety, teamwork, respect, passion, transparency, good sense, and accountability.

Scope of Job Responsible for conducting preventative maintenance of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power & energy storage systems; and, under the supervision of an experienced technician, troubleshooting and repairs. Expected to work safely under all circumstances and seek guidance for tasks unfamiliar or beyond competence.

This position is a limited‑term role for a duration of three months, with potential transition to a full‑time position contingent upon performance.

Responsibilities 80% – In the field:

Perform preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility‑scale photovoltaic plants, and storage systems.

Under supervision of an experienced technician, perform troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment.

Properly complete Job Safety Assessments, apply LOTO plans & procedures, identify & report safety hazards, attend safety meetings.

Participate in a 24‑hour/weekly “On Call” rotation & work outside business hours when needed.

Attend safety and technical training required for this position.

15% – Administrative duties:

Document completed jobs, implement supply orders, complete daily work orders, time tracking, and other required paperwork.

5% – Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

2–4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.

Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.

Required Certifications

OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.

Basic Safety Training (BST) under the Global Wind Organization.

Basic Technical Training (BTT) under the Global Wind Organization.

Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) under the Global Wind Organization.

Slinger and Signaler certification under the Global Wind Organization.

NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Valid current driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles.

Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines/ photovoltaic power and energy storage systems.

Familiar with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and able to identify appropriate PPE.

Basic understanding of schematics and ability to use a multimeter correctly.

Basic computer knowledge.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Successful completion of applicable safety and technical training programs for entry‑level technicians.

Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English.

Physical Requirements

Weight restrictions for life‑saving fall‑arrest equipment; maximum employee weight (Wind only) must not exceed 285 lbs.

May be required to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods.

Operate company vehicles on site and on public roads.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs and frequently up to 50 lbs.

Work in an electrical‑mechanical environment.

Climb ladders, stairs, and structures up to 91 m (300 ft).

Work at heights, including climbing, descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.

Comfort with various weather conditions: extreme heat, cold, wind, rain.

Working Conditions 100% of the time is spent working in the renewable asset field. Marginal time spent in office setting using computers, phones, and general office equipment. Requires wearing appropriate PPE, repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers. Work eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week, with overtime and night shifts as required.
