Senior Major Gift Officer – School of Medicine
Wayne State University invites applications for the Senior Major Gift Officer‑ School of Medicine position. The role reports to the Senior Director, Major Gifts – School of Medicine. Compensation and Pay Range
Base salary: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year. Pay is based on skills, experience and salary range is provided for informational purposes only. Job Purpose
Provide expertise in fundraising strategy and execution for the School of Medicine (SOM). Manage a prospect portfolio, develop aggressive fundraising and contact plans, and cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors to meet allocated budgeted goals. Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities are organized by the percentage of time dedicated to each function: Annual Fundraising and Portfolio Management (40%)
Achieve annual fundraising goal and support unit/division goals. Prioritize resources to maximize ROI. Use performance metrics: dollars raised for campaign commitments; number of major gift solicitations and closures $25,000+; face‑to‑face meetings; meaningful contacts; discovery qualifications.
Prospect Qualification & Cultivation (20%)
Implement strategies to secure commitments of $25,000+. Engage university leadership and relevant college/department colleagues.
Strategic Planning & Guidance (15%)
Collaborate with AVP, Senior Director, Dean, Chairs, and faculty. Develop realistic fundraising plans and timelines.
Operational Support (10%)
Provide resources to Development units to improve operational efficiencies.
Gift Documentation (10%)
Draft and negotiate gift and pledge documentation.
Other Duties (5%)
