Job Overview We are currently seeking a Customer Service Specialist 2 to join our team at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) in Lakewood, WA. This in-person role requires serving customers independently, researching & resolving complaints via telephone, in person, or electronically, while maintaining confidentiality. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

Interact positively and respectfully with external and internal customers via telephone, electronically, or face-to-face to address their needs.

Respond promptly to customer inquiries, assess the circumstances, and utilize agency programs (Barcode, JP Morgan, E-Jas, Scheduler, Blue Slip, ACES Online, SharePoint, etc.) to research and deliver accurate information.

Issue EBT cards, bus passes, gift cards, and vouchers to authorized customers and explain how to use them.

Maintain accurate logs for negotiables.

Interpret agency policy and procedures and resolve issues by applying knowledge of laws and regulations.

Provide guidance and general information services for all customers.

Qualifications

Associate degree AND two years of experience providing assistance to customers regarding inquiries, complaints, or problems OR Bachelor’s degree; OR equivalent experience.

Quick learner, team player, capable of self‑start projects, able to stay focused on priorities and work with all walks of life.
