Description
Chronicle Books is searching for an Editorial Assistant to support the administrative and editorial needs of the Children’s Editorial department and Princeton Architectural Press Editorial department.
Key Responsibilities
Guide and anticipate next steps for Editors by project deadlines, create task lists, draft front matter, copyedit/fact‑check, and work on marketing copy, top sheets, tipsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Conduct research, maintain title information, attend Status, Editorial, and Pub Group meetings, and review manuscripts and galleys.
Submit projects for feedback, draft letters, communicate sub‑rights deals, respond to book projects under consideration, assist with word‑processing, and manage advance copy mailings.
Maintain address databases, review unsolicited manuscripts, and organize and prepare editorial materials for internal presentations.
Hiring Salary Range $24.52/hr – $28.25/hr. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Requirements
Proven editorial experience with keen writing abilities, copy‑editing and proofreading skills, and an eye for detail.
Competency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and E‑mail.
Strong organizational, administrative, and time‑management skills.
Ability to work well with a wide variety of people.
Knowledge of the publishing industry and interest in in‑house product development while being customer and author oriented.
