Public Address Announcer
Inside Higher Ed is looking for a part‑time Public Address Announcer to serve as the official in‑game voice for various Athletics home events at Colgate University. This role requires conveying the game story with clarity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Accountabilities
Serve as the official in‑game voice for athletic home events (football, basketball, ice hockey, and other sports).
Announce starting lineups, in‑game action, substitutions, fouls, and other game‑related information clearly and enthusiastically.
Follow game scripts from the Athletics Marketing team, ensuring sponsor mentions, promotional reads, and special announcements.
Work closely with operations staff, statisticians, and officials for accurate, timely delivery of information.
Maintain a neutral, professional demeanor while announcing, avoiding bias toward any team.
Adapt announcements based on game flow, audience engagement, and emergency situations.
Adhere to NCAA, conference, and institutional public‑address announcing policies and protocols.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
6 months to 1 year of experience in public address announcing or related in‑person or broadcast media roles.
Strong public‑speaking skills, able to communicate clearly, confidently, and efficiently in a live setting.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic sports environment.
Two or more years of successful experience in public address announcing or similar media‑related roles.
Education High School Diploma/GED or higher.
