Position Summary Southern Utah University seeks candidates for a Lecturer in Kinesiology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track (NTT) position. Successful candidates will primarily teach courses in the Exercise Science undergraduate program. Essential Functions Teach 15 credits per semester (Fall, Spring) in the Exercise Science program. Teaching responsibilities will primarily include multiple sections of PE 1098: Wellness Dynamics, an undergraduate general education (GE) course. Other courses taught could include PE 2100: Stress Management and activity classes such as cross training or weight lifting.
Prioritize educating and coaching students in personal health and wellness.
Maintain contemporary expertise in health and wellness and associated curricula.
If needed, teach other courses in the Exercise Science and/or Physical Education programs.
Enthusiasm for helping students to learn and achieve, and a strong commitment to academic excellence are essential.
Primary emphasis is on teaching. However, professional commitment and service to the university are expected and required for advancement.
Participate in department and campus community committees, as assigned.
Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and accommodate changes and improvements within the department, college, and university.
Other responsibilities may be assigned, as needed.
Education & Experience Minimum Qualifications
Earned master's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience.
Ability to incorporate experiential education into teaching.
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree.
Collegiate teaching level experience.
Experience as a health and wellness coach.
NBC-HWC is a preferred qualification. Other similar certifications such as ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP, NSCA-CSCS, or comparable are beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly activities preferred.
Supplemental Information Position is contingent on funding.
