Maintain an enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service. Assist customers by making product suggestions. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interaction. Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately and resolve customer complaints, reporting to the Store Director as needed. Rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product; ensure cleanliness of work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays. Ensure that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly maintained. May be asked to assist in other areas of the Grocery Department. Follow and maintain department standards and requirements. Apply working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department. Assist with physical inventory taken every 6 months. Control inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, and maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate product. Supervise the processing of all reclamation and maintain orderly, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Dairy Department areas. Control shrinkage and cost. Implement correct product preparation techniques; use and operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine. Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking and rotating product, adhering to product temperature and storage guidelines, and following proper packaging techniques. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor daily log sheet, sales, labor, and other required paperwork and logs. Ensure proper temperature levels for product are maintained and comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company and code dating policies. Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations; ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment, and display area, including code date compliance as required. Implement emergency procedures in event of equipment and computer software malfunctions. Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product. Comply with and ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code. Seniority level
