Gravers Lane Gallery (GLG) is a Fine Art gallery located in the heart of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. Since 2011, GLG has been dedicated to supporting and increasing the visibility of Contemporary Craft, recognizing its vital role in shaping the broader landscape of contemporary art.
The gallery represents both established and emerging artists across multiple disciplines—ceramics, fiber & textiles, glass, wood, jewelry & metals, and painting—offering clients compelling collections of wallworks, objects, furniture, and personal adornment. Each artist we represent is deeply engaged with material and process, creating works that are personal, intellectual, and emotionally resonant.
About the Role Gravers Lane Gallery is seeking a Gallery Associate to join our small, passionate team. This full‑time position involves collaboration in daily gallery operations, curation, sales, artist and client relations, and marketing.
The ideal candidate has relevant experience working with artwork and clients in a professional gallery, museum, or high‑end retail setting, especially within Contemporary Craft and Art Jewelry. Attention to detail and strong customer engagement skills are necessary, as is proficiency with digital inventory management. Demonstrated experience with graphic design and social media marketing is strongly preferred.
* Weekend hours are required (Tuesday‑Saturday schedule), with occasional evenings for special events.
Key Responsibilities Gallery Operations & Client Relations
Manage gallery inventory systems across platforms (Google Suite, Square POS)
Coordinate exhibitions, events, and logistics
Maintain the gallery’s photography database and physical display needs
Manage sales, invoices, and client communications
Foster relationships with artists, collectors, and the community
Marketing & Communications
Contribute to marketing and communications initiatives
Create promotional materials and digital content
Direct social media and email campaigns
Maintain and update the website and e‑store
Capture and edit photos and video content
Stay informed about trends in Contemporary Craft and Fine Art
Gallery Presentation & Maintenance
Ensure the gallery remains clean, welcoming, and visually engaging
Assist with display, merchandising, and layout adjustments
Required Skills & Experience
Knowledge and/or experience with Fine Art, Contemporary Craft, or Art Jewelry
Experience in a professional gallery, museum, or luxury retail environment
Graphic design and digital communication proficiency
Strong sales and client relationship abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive
Strong aesthetic eye for display and presentation
Proficiency in Google Suite
Photography, videography, and basic editing skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with WordPress (HTML), Square POS, and Adobe Suite
Familiarity with Philadelphia’s art community
Experience with website or e‑store maintenance
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Schedule Tuesday–Saturday (some evening hours required for receptions and special events)
Compensation
$22/hr, estimated average 35 hours/week
7 days PTO, accrued immediately
