Base pay range: $87,061.00/yr - $113,185.00/yr
Summary The Institutional Review Board Coordinator (IRB) - GS-0601-11 position at Greater Los Angeles VAMC - Los Angeles - California is in the office of the Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development Service (ACOS-R). This position provides a variety of support services for active Research Investigators – VA personnel and non‑VA personnel. The employee is a key member of the research staff.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field – health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Provide a copy of transcripts to receive consideration.
At least one year of specialized experience as an IRB Coordinator.
Or substitution of education for experience: two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree in health sciences or allied sciences.
Combination of education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
All experience must include month and year start/end dates.
Physical requirements: primarily sedentary, light walking, standing, bending, carrying light objects.
Duties
Federal Regulations Application Review and Support 25%: maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of federal regulations regarding research involving human subjects.
Human Subjects Protection Study Consultation 25%: pre‑review new studies for content and completeness before forwarding to the IRB Committee.
Institutional Review Board Committee Oversight 25%: ensure all IRB actions and procedures are within scope of applicable VA, AAHRPP, and FDA regulations.
IRB Training and Education 15%: primary trainer for new members concerning policies, procedures, and responsibilities of the IRB.
Protocol Management & Oversight 10%: review protocols for completeness and appropriateness of content.
Work Schedule: Full‑time – Monday – Friday – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Telework may be authorized for this position.
