Job Description and Duties Effective July 1, 2025, Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full‑time employee in Bargaining Unit 01, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and to receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part‑time employees are subject to the same conditions as full‑time employees, on a prorated basis. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full‑time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Under the direct supervision of the Office Services Supervisor (OSS II) and the direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), the Office Technician - Typing (OT (T)) performs a wide variety of routine and complex administrative and clerical support duties that require general knowledge of Department programs and policies and an understanding of Department-wide office practices and procedures. The OT (T) must communicate effectively with health care staff and exercise good judgment.

Minimum Qualifications I

One year of experience in California state service performing clerical duties at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of an Office Assistant, Range B.

Experience: Two years of experience in typing and clerical work. Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience on the basis of either (a) one year of general education being equivalent to three months of experience; or (b) one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of experience. Students who are enrolled in the last semester or its equivalent of course work, which upon completion will fulfill these requirements, will be admitted to the examination, but they must submit evidence of completion before they can be considered for appointment.

To obtain list eligibility for the OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) before applying for the position, you must first take and pass the OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) examination.

The position(s) is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed. The successful candidate must reside in California upon the start of a telework arrangement.
