CNC Machinist - 1st shift Monday-Friday 8 hours Join CQ Medical as a CNC Machinist in a first‑shift, 8‑hour schedule to help design, manufacture, and support radiation oncology medical devices that improve patient positioning and treatment accuracy.

Job Responsibilities

Perform fabrication on CNC mill, CNC punch, and manual mills.

Set up CNC machines for production runs, including vises/fixtures, cutting tools, and offsets.

Build complex parts to comply with drawing specifications, interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.

Edit and troubleshoot CNC machine code to produce parts to tight tolerances.

Verify quality of components throughout the machining process, conducting first‑part and in‑process inspections.

Maintain part specifications by observing drilling, threading, facing, and milling operations; take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot, replace worn tools, and adjust machines as needed.

Saw, wash, and deburr parts; assist with cutting fixturing, shop aids, and new part revisions.

Maintain accurate records by completing production and quality logs.

Communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs across shift changes.

Follow strict safety procedures, maintaining a safe, clean, and 5S‑compliant work environment.

Load control media and enter commands to retrieve pre‑programmed instructions from the database.

Calculate and set machine controls to position the spindle, regulate cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.

Start, monitor, and stop machines, detecting and correcting malfunctions when necessary.

Apply proper maintenance to machines and equipment, keeping them in optimal condition.

Engage in training opportunities to continually update job knowledge.

Maintain acceptable reject and scrap rates while meeting production targets.

Take ownership of production needs, responding to new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications

Wear approved PPE.

Flexible to work a different shift as needed.

Basic shop mathematical skills.

Team‑oriented and punctual.

Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical documents, and drawings.

Comfortable with verbal and written communication in English.

Use micrometers and standard measuring techniques.

Computer‑savvy with basic CAD/CAM programming knowledge.

Lift up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a CNC operator/machinist.

Experience reading, interpreting, and working from engineering drawings, blueprints, TPS specs, and engineering specifications.

Completion of an apprenticeship, certificate, or degree in machining, engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Physical Demands Work involves manual dexterity, frequent standing, walking, and sitting; reaching with hands and arms; lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. Requires sight and hearing to operate machines safely.

Work Environment The machine shop has moderate to moderately high noise levels. Hearing protection is provided as needed.
