The Plumbing Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems within residential settings. This position requires a thorough understanding of plumbing principles and the ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of plumbing issues efficiently and safely. The technician will work directly with homeowners to assess their plumbing needs, provide expert recommendations, and deliver high-quality service that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to prevent future issues and ensure system longevity. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid plumbing license or certification as required by local or state regulations.
Proven experience in general and residential plumbing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and plumbing codes.
Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional certifications in specialized plumbing systems such as gas lines or water treatment.
Experience with modern plumbing technologies and eco‑friendly solutions.
Customer service experience in a residential service environment.
Familiarity with computerized work order and inventory management systems.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, and pipe damage in residential properties.
Install new plumbing systems and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, water heaters, and piping according to building codes and customer specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections to prevent plumbing failures and extend system lifespan.
Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues, recommend solutions, and provide cost estimates.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during service calls.
Collaborate with other team members and contractors when necessary to complete complex projects.
Skills The required skills in general and residential plumbing are applied daily to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of plumbing challenges, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. These skills enable the technician to install and maintain plumbing infrastructure that complies with regulatory standards and customer expectations. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of specialized systems and customer service, enhance the technician’s ability to provide comprehensive solutions and foster positive client relationships.
