Key Responsibilities
Perform set‑up duties to prepare brake machines and processes for production or assembly.
Install, adjust, change, and align tooling and equipment to prepare for production operations.
Work from schedules and instructions to analyze machines, process problems, and/or determine solutions.
Monitor processes and recommend improvements to increase productivity and assure quality.
Use precision measuring tools continuously to verify accuracy of formed products based on AQL frequency.
Ensure all materials are available at machines and workstations.
Operate the brake machine to assemble sheets, bend and form metal consistently in accordance with customer specifications.
Place parts on a die and adjust to ensure proper placement, angles, dimensions, and proper sequence of process.
Make minor adjustments and clear alarms.
Read blueprints and understand the assembly process and movement of completed components.
Use safety straps, machine guards, and/or laser guards, maintaining a ¼‑inch gap for safe operation.
Assist operators with measuring, blueprint‑reading, minor adjustments, and train them in product inspection techniques.
Assist in maintaining equipment and keeping work areas clean and orderly.
Instruct operators and other workers in machine operation, process setup, quality standards, and process documentation.
Report and prevent equipment and process malfunctions, material discrepancies, and documentation errors.
Ensure production flows efficiently, planning smooth transitions to the next scheduled job.
Complete all paperwork and documentation accurately and timely.
May perform duties of Brake Operator I or Brake Operator II as necessary.
May train new employees, provide work instruction, and answer questions in the absence of a lead or supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Prior assembly or machine operator set‑up experience.
Proven ability to set up machines and processes to company specifications swiftly with little or no scrap.
Strong understanding of assembly and machine operations, and movement of completed components.
Ability to produce high‑quality products per required output specifications.
Computer skills as required.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
Experience with CADKEY.
Ability to make adjustments and clear machine alarms.
Ability to read blueprints.
Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
Operate hand tools, machines, and equipment with minimal supervision.
Handle fast‑paced work.
Work productively in a team and contribute to organizational success.
Take initiative to complete tasks without explicit instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience in assembly or machine operation set‑up.
Education
High School diploma.
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; occasional risk of electrical shock.
Noise level usually moderate and occasionally loud.
Physical Demands
Regular standing, sitting, use of hands and fingers, talking, hearing.
Occasional sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, color, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
