Position Overview We are seeking an experienced
Data Center Network Technician
to support a 24/7/365 on-site operation in Abilene, Texas. This role is hands‑on and primarily focused on implementing and supporting network changes within a data center environment. The position requires working rotating 8–12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional travel based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities Implement, install, remove, and troubleshoot network hardware in data center racks without impacting adjacent equipment or critical infrastructure Perform hands‑on physical work including racking network equipment, mounting servers, and connecting Ethernet and power cabling according to schematics and build plans Execute network changes with a strong focus on accuracy, stability, and adherence to best practices Install, route, dress, and secure copper and fiber cabling neatly within racks Test copper and fiber cables and validate connectivity Maintain accurate asset inventory and update internal tracking applications Support data center infrastructure and networking projects as required
Required Qualifications Strong foundational networking knowledge, including: Routing protocols Layer 2 protocols (ARP, ICMP) 5+ years of experience in structured cabling (copper and fiber), including testing 6+ years of experience physically installing network racks, mounting servers, and managing cabling Experience working in data center environments and on data center infrastructure projects Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting equipment, standing for extended periods, and working in confined rack spaces Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications CCNA certification (preferred) Data center networking experience supporting enterprise‑scale environments
Additional Information This is a fully on‑site role in Abilene, TX Per diem is not offered Occasional travel may be required based on business needs
