Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY) is located on a 500‑acre campus in Purchase, NY. Established in 1967, the college offers a unique blend of conservatory training in the visual and performing arts alongside liberal arts and science programs.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director with oversight and daily operations of the Procurement and Accounts Payable Department.
Formulate procurement policy and provide guidance on compliance to the campus community.
Manage staff in day‑to‑day operations of the Purchasing Department.
Interact with college administration, faculty, staff, vendors, SUNY System Administration, NYS Comptroller, General Services, and Attorney General.
Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, capital facilities contracts and supplier contracts in accordance with college, SUNY, and state requirements.
Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQ), Invitations for Bids (IFB), and Requests for Proposals (RFP) efficiently.
Develop, review, and authorize campus contracts and agreements.
Analyze contracts for compliance with New York State law and SUNY regulations.
Monitor existing contracts and create competitive bidding plans to ensure timely procurement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Management, Communications or related field.
5–7 years of progressive experience in procurement and vendor relationships, preferably in higher education.
Contract management and supervisory experience.
Experience with competitive bidding (IFB, RFP, RFQ), vendor selection, and vendor risk assessment.
Superior attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and meeting deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Advanced problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Accounts Payable experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in New York State procurement capital construction contracts.
Experience with SUNY procurement processes, public bidding, procurement card programs, and contract law.
Experience implementing or managing e‑procurement systems.
