About the Role The Warehouse Associate position is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving freight in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring positive customer service relations.
What you’ll do
Load and unload freight from/to all types of vehicles.
Attach tags or marking freight with appropriate identifying information.
Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas/yard.
Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work order.
Complete appropriate paperwork properly.
Assist customers (over phone and face‑to‑face) regarding freight in a polite and professional manner.
Record numbers of units handled or moved.
Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
Warehouse cleanup.
Consistently follow all safety procedures.
Minor vehicle/equipment inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
Assist other coworkers and departments as requested.
Loading and securing flats.
Ensuring loads are compliant with water restriction requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Communication skills are necessary as the position may interact with other employees, customers, vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Strong verbal, reading, and listening skills required.
Ability to process all freight related materials accurately and efficiently.
Must exercise good judgment, time management, decision making, and focus.
Qualifications
High School diploma (or equivalent) required.
Transportation or freight experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Extra Credit
Forklift Certification.
Hazardous Material Certification.
Physical Requirements
Ability to move up to 200 pounds utilizing proper moving equipment.
Ability to independently move up to 70 pounds.
Application of proper lifting techniques when needed.
Operate all equipment in a warehouse which may include grasping, climbing, bending, handling, reaching, hand dexterity, feeling/touching and repetitive motions of the hands and feet.
Walk or stand for long periods of time.
Strong body coordination and equilibrium.
Work Environment Work is typically performed in a general warehouse environment which may also be conducted outdoors in the elements. Exposure to exhaust fumes is likely.
Compensation The pay range is posted for this position in Washington. The rate offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
